Help us protect rent-stabilized housing in Venice - we need your voice to make sure this building remains a rent-stabilized apartment for permanent Venice residents.
Please join us at the Venice Neighborhood Council Board Meeting.
The Council will vote on whether to convert this rent stabilized apartment building to a hotel.
Over the past several years 417 Ocean Front Walk, an entire rent stabilized, residentially zoned apartment building, has been stealthily converted into a non-permitted transient occupancy hotel.
This de facto hotel has removed affordable housing and replaced Venice locals with strangers.
This property owner is now asking the City to legalize this unlawful activity in the midst of a LA housing crisis and to let even more Venice homes permanently disappear. We cannot allow this to happen.
If this after-the-fact, change of use is approved to legitimize critically needed residential housing in favor of a very rewarding short-term rental business it will open the flood gates to the hundreds of other property owners now waiting in the wings to jump right on such a precedent.
Thank you for supporting this important effort to protect rent stabilized housing in Venice. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
